SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES

Sunday, 5 October 2014
It's been a while since we've done one of these posts, December I do believe. We're just going to share some of our favourites from the past months, not in any particular categories, just anything we've been loving recently! Comment what you've been loving this month below!

AMY:

Simple Triple Action Face Wash - I cannot explain how much I've been loving this product! It has helped clear up my skin an awful lot. This is face wash (obviously) with little micro particles that act as an exfoliant, but it's not too harsh as the micro particles are fairly sparse. I use this in the shower usually and find that for best results you should use a flannel or something to open your spots first, when I've done this I genuinely got amazing results by the next day. I'm not saying it clears up everything, but it certainly tackles your ripe ones! Definitely go out and buy it!

TRESemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo - I've always loved TRESemme and when I lived at my Mum's we always had it, the smell always makes me happy and reminds me of my childhood. I bought this one on a bit of a whim, I was in ASDA and was after the Platinum Strength one as my hair was in such bad condition and my Mother recommended that one to me, but next to it was the Keratin Smooth and was half price at just (insert pound sign)2.50 so I decided to give this one a go as it's claims seemed promising. At the moment my hair is a nightmare and it frizzy and horrible, and since I've been using this product it's not even close to being as bad as it was. I'm also going to give the conditioner a whirl when mine runs out! Well done TRESemme!

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Restorer - I teamed this with my Keratin Smooth and oh my, they got on like a house on fire. My hair had never felt or looked good before. It's for dry/ frizzy hair, my hair isn't dry, but it's most certainly frizzy. As I don't use this on my roots I figured that a kit of moisture wouldn't hurt (and it didn't). Honestly, I can't rave about these two products enough, they've done wonders for my hair! It's still not in the best condition, but it's a hell of a lot better! It was cheap too! just (insert pound sign)2! Thank you Garnier!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - Oh my goshhhh, I know I'm late to this bandwagon, but I can certainly see why everyone was loving this. The coverage is fab, the scent is fab, the price is fab, it's just fab okay. If you're looking for a drugstore foundation with good coverage, zero SPF, a lovely scent that's easy to apply, the look no further, this is what you're looking for. It's only like (insert pounds sign)10 and is so worth it.

Rimmel Wonder'full Mascara - This mascara is great, it is enriched with argon oil so it cares for your lashes whilst making them look fab. It has an 'Ultra Flex Brush' and gets zero clumps. I don't wish to say too much on this as I may do a review on it if i get the chance, but I like it, go buy it if you're looking for a mascara with all of what I've mentioned!

Hospital For Souls by Bring Me The Horizon - Oh my goodness, I absolutely love this song, no matter what mood I'm in this song will always improve it. I lost my earphones for a long time, and when I got them back, I was walking home and this song blasted through them. I don't even thing I've ever been more content with life at that moment. If you haven't heard it, then go and listen, you surely won't regret it.

Maple and Pecan Plait - You can buy these from LIDL for like 50p and they are the most amazing things ever, honestly, I can't explain how fab they are. Pop over to your nearest LIDL and get one, I mean not if you have a nut allergy or something, but other than that, you have to try them.

MEGAN:

Black Structured Bag from H&M - I managed to persuade my dad that a new big bag was a necessity for school and carrying revision guides etc. around, (it kind of was to be fair..). My old bag was from Urban Outfitters, it wasn't small but it wasn't particularly big either and I couldn't fit my lunch, water, hairbrush, charger, school planner and school books in there so I was having to carry my school books around in my hands, meaning I forgot them a lot and left them places, (I've managed to lose my English book twice this year already and we've only been back a month.. oops). Anyway I was in H&M and I saw this beautiful black bag with a fake crocodile design on it, and the best thing about it? It's basically a mini suitcase! I'm pretty sure it's bigger than me? Oh well haha, I love it anyway and it was only thirty-five pounds!

Green Tartan Scarf from River Island - I bought this scarf last December, just after Christmas but I haven't worn it since April I think? As soon as I could see my breath in the mornings whilst walking to school I decided that it was time for wrap up! Maybe it's slightly premature but, to be fair, I was getting cold at the end of August.. The scarf was only twelve pounds (from the men's section but ssh) and it's 100% acrylic and soooo cosy and soft! An Autumn/Winter must-have!

Estee Lauder Eyeshadow in the shade 63, Tempting Mocha (Shimmer) - I am really enjoying using this eyeshadow as a base underneath darker colours at the moment. I find that it coincides with a very autumnal look that I'm going for at the moment! It's so pretty and gives the most gorgeous but subtle shimmer and is really easy to blend.

Lancome Lipgloss in the shade 316 - I think that this was a limited edition product and that it's now been discontinued which is extremely sad as I've nearly finished mine, sigh. The colour I have is a deep purple with a hint of red and I looove it, especially for this time of year. It's very glossy, (hence it being a lipgloss..) and lasts for a good few hours on my lips, even withstanding me drinking and eating, which is great!

B1 Micellar Water - I've wanted to try out a micellar water for so long so when I was in Exeter a few weeks ago I decided to try one and it was a very good decision! I've never tried anything from the B range before but I may be tempted to branch out to more go their products! You don't need a lot of product, simply disperse some onto a cotton pad and wipe away any make-up, whether it be foundation, mascara or lipstick, it removes it without causing any irritation or redness on my skin. I use it both morning and night to cleanse my skin and remove make-up and I find that it leaves my skin looking and feeling fresh and rejuvenated and it has helped to clear up my skin, bonus!

Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood - I cannot describe my love for this song, oh my god.. I can't actually remember how I came across it, all I know is that as soon as I first heard it I immediately fell in love and downloaded it! It's such a good song and I feel that it's also very apt for the current season, haha.

Ace Multivitamin Juice - When I was younger we used to do our weekly shop at Lidl and I used to drink this stuff non-stop but then, for some reason, my mum decided to shop at Sainsbury's instead, meaning for about five years I went without it, which is really sad but also kind of good as a few weeks ago we went in there to get some stuff from the bakery and I re-discovered it and I am so happy that I have, it's honestly one of the nicest drinks I've ever had and It's so refreshing as well, mmm.

So that's it for our monthly favourites, what things have you enjoyed throughout September? Tell us in the comments!

DECEMBER FAVOURITES!

Thursday, 16 January 2014
Aloha beautiful people! It's December faves time! (cue for cheers). I don't really know what else to introduce it by? Let's just start!

AMY:

Beauty:

Clearasil Perfecta Wash - I've been buzzing about this to EVERYONE! Its so cool! Its basically a face wash/cleanser, and its in a machine, and its automatic! And awesome! I love it! It does dispense the 'perfect amount' of face wash and works in removing your makeup, it also says that its 'daily clear' I'm assuming that means that it fights break outs? Or clears skin? I'm not exactly spot free, but I do have a significant amount of less spots! I still have quite a few though, I'm not saying this thing is a miracle worker! Haha! When I googled this, it said it was around the £12 mark, but I got mine for £3! WITH BATTERIES! The refills are £2! That comes with 100 doses! BARGAIN! That was from Savers, branch here in the UK (at least, I think its only in UK...)

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - I had heard loads of great things from loads of my beauty guru's, and then Megan bought it, so I used it a few times off of her, and I liked it then! I was in dire need of a powder anyway, as I have oily skin, and the foundation I was using was only a cheap one, so it was very shiny too, that didn't help matters, since I've bought this, it had transformed my face, no over exaggeration, and it lasts five hours too! I'm so so SO pleased with this buy! When I bought this all of the Translucent was gone, so I bought mine in 03Peach Glow, its still so good, and doesn't make that much difference to my skin tone either! Definite buy, so affordable too! Only £4! BUY NOW!

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation - Yes, more Rimmel, in fact they had a 3 for 2 on Rimmel in Boots, how could I resist? This was also one that I had heard from Beauty Guru's of mine, and also, I had it about a year ago, so I already knew I liked it! It was just a matter of rekindling that love! This foundation is great, it doesn't cake, and stays put! Great! The only fault was that the colours aren't too great, last time I had this, I got the Light Porcelain, and that was FAR too light, white almost, so I bought the shade up True Ivory, and its a wee bit too warm me thinks! But this is a definite for any makeup bag! As its drug store makeup, its cheap! So good for a budget makeup wearer (like me, I'm always skint) but I also remember Tanya Burr saying that it was similar Nars Sheer Glow, so maybe even perfect for you High End people! Buy, Buy, BUY!

Food:

Mince Pies - These were my life, and probably a total Cliche for a December Favourites post, but seriously! So yummy! If you know me, you will know that I eat A LOT, and these were no exception! In fact, I've been told that while people eat, they think of me, hm... A lot of people don't like them WHY?! But I like dried fruit, especially dried apricots, I don't know why I'm talking about dried apricots now, as I don't even think they're in Mince Pies? Okay I'll shut up now!

Film:

Pretty In Pink - this is an 80's film and it just great, I first watched it in December and I like fell in love with it, omg. Its just amazing, if you haven't watched it, watch it. I like those sort of films anyway, and I like the old films: Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman etc... Ermagherrd, it's so good!

MEGAN:

Beauty:

Lancome Hydrogen Moisturiser - During December I had only one beauty favourite and that is the French make up band, Lancome's, highly recommended moisturiser - Hydrogen! I can safely say it is the best moisturiser i have ever tried out, it absorbs easily, you don't need too much and it keeps your skin looking healthy and feeling healthy.

Food:

Cheese - This one's a bit weird, but for some unknown reason, over Christmas, I ate so much cheese! I especially like Blacksticks Blue. Cheese is great with grapes, apples, crackers or even just bread! Mmmm.

Film:

Elf - DUH! If you haven't watched this film then i suggest that you go and watch it right this minute as it is, without a doubt, the best Christmas film I have ever watched! It's hilarious, unique and good for the whole family! The storyline is unlike any other, and, above all, it's super Christmassy! I enjoyed sitting down in the evening with the Christmas tree lights and a nice cup of mulled wine and watching Elf - can you think of anything better?!

So that's the end of our december favourites - what are some of the things that you enjoyed during December? Tell us in the comments!

BLOGMAS DAY TWENTY-TWO: NOVEMBER FAVOURITES!

Sunday, 22 December 2013
IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS! And as it's now December we thought it was only fair to share our November favourites! It's a bit late into this month but oh well!

BEAUTY:

Amy:

Clinique Foaming Cleanser. I love this, its so easy to use, and it gets rid of your make up really quick and easily! Also it's a lovely pearly colour as well!

I'VE FOUND A NEW HAND CREAM! So as some of you may know, I have a wee obsession with these products. It's really hard to find a good handcream, non greasy, quick absorbing, and that actually works, but I have! Drum roll please... MANDARA SPA! I have one by this brand and I love it, it fits all of the criteria and it also has a hint of an almondy scent! top marks!

Elemis Lip Repar. This is such a good product, it has a minty scent, and has these little micro particals, which kind of act as a scrub, love this!

Megan:

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Okay, so I finally purchased this after hearing good things about it from so many people. Although the packaging isn't the best, the product inside is amazing! It does exactly what you need it to do - set your make-up, which it does really well! My make-up now stays out for the entire day and still looks good at the end of the day. It's doesn't dry out my skin or stick to any parts of my face, I can tell that I will be repurchasing this over and over again.

Neutregena facial wash/mask:

Oh. My. God. I don't have the best skin - I'm quite spotty and get dry skin quite a lot, however since using this 2-in-1 wash/mask, my skin has cleared up so much! I know only have two or three spots and my skin is so soft and smooth! I LOVE it! I use twice a day as a wash, once in the morning before I put on my make-up and then in the evening to take off my make-up (it works as a cleanser). I then use it as a mask at the weekends when I have time to relax or whenever I feel like my skin needs it.

MUSIC:

Amy:

It HAS to be Story Of My Life - One Direction, It's just an AMAZING song, and not just 'cause it's One Direction either! The video is really cute as well! what are your thoughts on it?

Megan:

I have been loving is Ed sheeran so much recently! I've always enjoyed his music but recently I downloaded his whole album and fell completely in love with him and his voice! The lyrics are so deep and meaningful, and he has such a calming voice! He's just purely amazing!

RANDOM:

Amy: REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS - OMG! I love these! they're soo good, I dont even know if I like peanut butter... But these... These are just, mmm.

Megan:

Company magazine:

The first thing I've been loving over the past month is company magazine - It's priced at £2.50 and it sometimes comes with free gifts such as nail varnish. It's always on trend and has some great material. The writers are funny, witty and intelligent and write about various subjects - good value for money!

Cardiff:

As you know, I recently went to Cardiff (photo diary up soon - I promise!) and it was absolutely amazing! I went there a few years ago but I didn't get a chance to visit the city centre. However, this time I spent a day and a half just wondering around the city centre - it's any shoppers dream! It doesn't get too busy, everything is close together, there are lots of cute cafés but most importantly, there are so many shops! House of Fraser, Topshop, Hollister, Superdry, H&M, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, John Lewis...the list is endless! I will definitely be going back soon!

Halls throat sweets:

Whilst I was in Cardiff, I developed a horrible cold and could hardly speak so I purchased some halls throat sweets - they literally saved my life! I was back to normal within two days. Although they don't have the best taste, they soothed my throat and cleared my head and nose!

Hope you enjoyed this post, what things did you enjoy in November?

BLOGMAS DAY FIVE: WINTER MAKEUP!

Thursday, 5 December 2013

Hey there! I hope you are enjoying Blogmas so far! IT’S DAY THREE! Where is this year going?! IT’S NEARLY CHRISTMAS! Asdfghjkl! Okay, fan girl moment over; jeez you would have thought I was meeting One Direction, eh?

Today’s post, as the title shows, is going to be my winter make up! Now this isn’t too different to my others, except for the fact that I wear a different shade of eye shadows! In the summer, I kept it to pinks, in the spring it was quite neutral, I miss out autumn, as y’know, Christmas! This winter I have kept it down to bronzes and browns. Here is my Make up tutorial, have fun!

STEP ONE: BASE;

I am using the NIVEA Soft as my moisturiser at the moment, it’s a lot thicker than my others, but I still like it, and let’s not forget we need extra care in winter cause of cold weathers and chapping winds! Also, I am using the Rimmel Match Perfect for my foundation!

I look bug-eyed and bad lighting much...

STEP TWO: CONTOUR;

I am using a brown bronzer out of an old palette for this, nothing more, nothing less, I apply this to the bottom of my cheek bones to give them a bit of oomph, I also apply a weenie little bit to the very sides of my forehead as I have a very wide hear, if you didn’t know that already!

Serious face now.
STEP THREE: EYE SHADOW;

I apply a light yellowy gold as a base, then a bronze to the far side of my lid, I them apply a brown to my crease and blend it all together!
My nose looks HUGE! Mind the foundation creases!

STEP FOUR: MASCARA;

I am currently using the Lancôme Hypnose Mascara, and I love it! It’s fabby!

Bad lighting, I look ill...

So this was my winter make up! What are your changes to your make up for winter? I shall see YOU, the day after tomorrow, don’t forget it is Megan’s post tomorrow!

Amy

PS: Mind my spots and foundation-crease-lines! x

BLOGMAS DAY FOUR: GIFT WISHLIST!

Wednesday, 4 December 2013
Hey a guys! Today's post is going to be my (Megan) Christmas gift wish list! Unfortunately there is a lot of things I want, most of which are expensive! Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

YSL Touché éclat Foundation - I love this foundation so much, it's good coverage, lasts all day and keeps your skin looking radian and glowy! I happen to know that I am getting this, which I am very happy about!

Long lasting perfection Concealer - I've heard a lot of good things about this concealer and have asked Santa for one! Fingers crossed!

Real techniques brushes - I've wanted some of these brushes for such a long time, and reeeeeeally hope I get some!

Black boyfriend Topshop coat - I've had my eye on this coat for a while and let me tell you now, it's one of the most gorgeous piece's of clothing I've ever tried on! It's comfy and is so on trend at the moment. I've asked my dad for money this year, so, if I get enough money, I'll be buying it! Weyhey!

Tartan scarf - I've seen so many different versions of this type of scarf and I think that they're all super cute! Plus a scarf is a definitive must-have for Winter!

Converse - Sadly, my old one's are dying, so I'm hoping for some new ones!

Phone case - Weirdly I don't have a case for my phone, even though I've had I for nearly two years... I'm hoping for the ISWAI, but, to be honest, any one would do!

Fluffy jumper - Fluffy jumpers are essential, especially this time of year, so I feel like I need to invest in some more! I've seen a really nice one in H&M and ISWAI do some really nice jumpers too!

Bio oil - This stuff is a life saver! Sadly ran out a few months ago and haven been able to replace it yet!

Money - Last but not least, I have asked for some money so me and Amy can go shopping in the January sales!

So that's my entire wish list for this Christmas, I hope you liked this post - what's on your wish list? Don't forget to tell us in the comments! Byeeee!

SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES!

Monday, 7 October 2013
Here at LAOR we have A  LOT of favourite products, so we decided to show you guys them! We've had to narrow it down, here they are! Also, we want to know what your favourites of last month were, tell us in the comments!

Beauty:

Amy:

1 - Philosophy: Hope in a stick. This product is so lovely to apply, it's nice and moist so it doesn't tug at the lip. Nice and balmy. S'pose that's what you look for in a lip BALM, wouldn't be a balm if it wasn't very balmy, eh? Love a good balm! (No idea why I just said that, just going with the flow!) Anyway, its just an all rounder! Doesn't have a scent, but I. Just. Love. This! I actually got this in the Summer, when my Mum went to Hawaii, they gave her a philosophy pack on the plane, so I 'borrowed' it from her! Anyway - good product, highly recommend this!

2 - Sally Hensen XTREME WEAR nail colour - in no. 89 Ruby Stilettos. A wonderful shade, a sparkly red, I actually bought this in August with Christmas in mind (78 Days, OMG) but then found it in my bag one day and tried it out! Just brilliant, I wouldn't totally agree with the 'XTREME WEAR' part, it just lasted about average time, but I still love it! Rush out and buy it before Christmas, yay!

3 - NIVEA Smooth Nourishing Hand Cream, I don't think I can stress how much I love hand cream, it is an absolute essential in my life, it comes with me everywhere - school, in my hand bag, at home, EVERYWHERE, so I have tried many in the past and this has to be in my top 2, along with Soap and glory HAND FOOD. It is lovely, and not greasy at all! ILOVEIT, fast drying and a good scent! brilliant!

Megan:

1 - NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara, up until I purchased this mascara, I have always used high end mascaras as I thought 'the more expensive, the better it must be' I couldn't of been more wrong. I bought this in Superdrug (a drugstore here in the UK) for £2.49 - I couldn't believe how cheap it was, and, to be honest, I didn't expect it be very good, however, I was extremely wrong! I bought it in extra black - the blacker the better, and not only is long lasting, it makes your eyelashes look a lot fuller and curls them, hence the name! I'll definitely be re-purchasing this.

2 - Simple Replenishing Moisturiser, I adore this mostiriser! It's absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh and  it's also works really well as a primer for foundation. There is no scent and it contains vitamins B5 and E - both very good for your skin!

Song:

Amy:

This had to be Last first Kiss - One Direction... So as you might know I have a wee bit of an obsession with these lads, and I've always loved this song, its from their album Take Me Home and it's a good belter, love a good belter! My parents don't particularly though... This song is just perfect...

Megan:

Over the last month I have had many favourite songs but there is one song that just sticks out from the rest and that is Blue - Angie Hart. Although it's quite an old song, it's still really good. It's quite sad and quite slow, but I love listening to it - it's very calming. How I came across it is a bit weird - I was watching an old episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (a show both Amy and I adore!) and I got it stuck in my head so I googled the lyrics and then became obsessed with it... Go check it out!

Film/TV:

Amy: (Film)

As you would probably guess, it has to be This Is Us. It was actually out at the end of August, but i was on holiday with my family so I saw it in September, and I'm not just saying this because its 1D, but because I loved it. Megan doesn't like 1D, so I went with another friend, we were the only ones in the showing, 3D might I just add.. and as we were the only ones there we were singing, at the top of our lungs, and just dancing around the cinema! It was such a good film! By the end, we sounded as if we had just been to the concert, again! I'd give it top marks, emotional, fun, musical! Well done Lads!

Megan: (TV)

As I previously mentioned, Amy and I love Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I grew up with it and was completely obsessed when I was about six, I actually thought that I was Buffy! Anyway, moving on from that embarrassing strory, I recently rekindled my love for the programme and managed to watch the entire 7 seasons in a month and a bit, I told you I was obsessed! It's such an enticing program, with lots of comedy, drama and action, it will forever be one of my favourites, definitely worth watching!

So there you have it, our September favourites! We hope enjoyed it, leave your favourites from the past month in the comments.

P.s We are going to (attempt) to update this blog once a week on Fridays.

Thanks for reading,

Amy & Megan
